The recent MERC Order (Case No. 75 of 2025 dated 25 March 2026) highlights significant changes in banking regulations that will impact solar and wind energy sectors. The order is applicable from 1st July 2025.

Key points from the order include:

- The Time of Day (ToD) slots will remain as outlined in the MYT 25-25 order dated 28 March 2025.

- Power banked during peak hours (5 PM to 12 AM) can be utilized in other ToD slots.

- Power banked during solar hours (9 AM to 5 PM) must be used within the same ToD slot.

- Power banked during normal hours (6 AM to 9 AM & 12 AM to 6 AM) can be adjusted in both solar and non-solar hours.

- These banking provisions will also apply to net metering and net billing systems.

This order is crucial for stakeholders in the renewable energy sector as it clarifies the banking framework, which was a critical area of dispute previously. Time to adopt #storage for both #solar and #wind.
